V. M. Istemihan Genc, D.Sc.
Professor & Lab HeadProf. Genc received the B.Sc. degree in electrical engineering from Istanbul Technical University, the M.Sc. degrees in electrical engineering, systems and control engineering, and systems science and mathematics from Istanbul Technical University, Bogazici University, and Washington University, respectively. After receiving the doctor of science (D.Sc.) degree in 2001 from Washington University in St. Louis, he joined the Department of Electrical Engineering at Istanbul Technical University. He was a visiting scholar during his postdoctoral studies in the Department of Electrical Engineering at Arizona State University and also a visiting professor in the Department of Electrical and Systems Engineering at Washington University.
His research interests include power system dynamics and stability, smart grids, optimization and control applications in power engineering and nonlinear dynamical systems. He is currently a professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering at Istanbul Technical University. Dr. Genc has been an active member of the IEEE Power and Energy Society (PES) since 2003. He has held leadership roles within the organization, serving as the Chair of the PES Turkey Chapter as well as the Zonal Representative for the Eastern Europe Zone.
Yusuf Yaslan, Ph.D.
Assoc. Professor & CollaboratorYusuf Yaslan received the B.Sc. degree in computer science engineering from Istanbul University, Turkey, in 2001 and the M.Sc. degree in telecommunication engineering and the Ph.D. degree in computer engineering from Istanbul Technical University (ITU), in 2004 and 2011, respectively, where he is an Associated Professor with the Computer Engineering Department. His research interests are watermarking, machine learning theory and applications, social networks, music recognition/recommendation, and data mining applications on IoT data and smart cities.
Yaprak Yalcin, Ph.D.
Professor & CollaboratorYaprak Yalcin received B.S. degree in Control & Computer Engineering and M.S and PhD degrees in Control & Automation Engineering, all from Istanbul Technical University, in 2002, 2004 and 2010, respectively. She pursued her researches in Imperial College as an Academic Visitor till 2012 for one and a half year. She worked in Istanbul Technical University as an Assistant Professor between 2012 and 2017. She received Associate Professorship degree in 2017. She is currently holding Professor position in the same University. Her research interests include adaptive control of nonlinear systems, passivity-based and H-infinity control of port-controlled Hamiltonian systems, industrial automation and control, model-based predictive control.
Fatih Kucuktezcan, Ph.D.
Assistant ProfessorDr. Fatih Kucuktezcan received his B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical Engineering from Istanbul Technical University in 2005, 2008, and 2015, respectively. He has been a visiting scholar at the Institute of Electrical Power Systems at the University of Duisburg-Essen and has served as an Assistant Professor at Bahcesehir University. Dr. Kucuktezcan is currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering at Istanbul Technical University. His research interests include power system dynamics, optimization, and computational intelligence applications in power systems.
Kemal Aygül, M.Sc.
PhD Candidate & Research AssistantKemal Aygül was born in Adana, Turkey. He received his B.Sc and MSc. degree in the department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Cukurova University in 2016 and 2019 respectively. He is currently a Research Assistant and pursuing the Ph.D. degree in the department of Electrical Engineering, Istanbul Technical University. His research interests include the application of machine learning and optimization algorithms in electrical power systems including renewable energy sources.
Bahattin Demirci, M.Sc.
PhD Candidate & Research AssistantBahattin Demirci graduated from the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering at Tokat Gazi Osmanpasa University in 2018. He pursued two master’s degrees in Electrical and Electronics Engineering and Occupational Health and Safety, completing both in 2021. Currently, he is a Ph.D. candidate and research assistant in the Department of Electrical Engineering at Istanbul Technical University. His research focuses on electrical energy and power systems, smart grids, and energy storage systems.
